The Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Shree Ramkrishna Exports (SRK), has been a pioneer in ethical sourcing, sustainable manufacturing and social impact through the SRK Knowledge Foundation. The recognition from ‘Diamonds Do Good’ comes on the back of his distinguished six-decade journey in the diamond industry
Las Vegas: Govind Dholakia, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Shree Ramkrishna Exports (SRK), was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by ‘Diamonds Do Good’ at its annual gala during JCK 2025, one of the world’s leading jewellery trade events held in Las Vegas. The award recognizes Dholakia’s six-decade journey from modest beginnings in a Gujarat village to building a global diamond enterprise rooted in sustainability, ethics and community development.
The award was accepted on Dholakia’s behalf by his son, Shreyans Dholakia, Brand Custodian at SRK. Addressing the audience, Shreyans said, “Thank you, Diamonds Do Good. This honour goes beyond our family, it belongs to every artisan in Surat, to every life touched by our foundation, and to a philosophy we live by: that business is not just about success, but about significance.” He added that accepting the award made him “10 times prouder” to represent his father and the values upon which the business was built.
Dholakia’s recognition in Las Vegas follows an earlier international honour—the USGBC Leadership Award, presented in Boston by the U.S. Green Building Council for his commitment to sustainable development. Under his leadership, SRK has set benchmarks in responsible manufacturing. Its Surat facilities are the world’s first Net Zero Energy diamond crafting units, with some of the lowest per-carat carbon emissions in the industry.
Much of Dholakia’s legacy also lies in his contributions to society through the SRK Knowledge Foundation (SRKKF), which marks its 10th anniversary this year. Established to consolidate the company’s charitable efforts under one platform, the foundation has worked in areas such as education, women’s empowerment, healthcare and rural upliftment. The philosophy, often summarized in Dholakia’s words—“Legacy and history are not built by preserving wealth, they are built by giving and sharing”—continues to guide SRK’s outreach.
This latest accolade highlights the growing global recognition of Indian diamantaires who combine business acumen with purpose-driven values, aligned with a broader demand for transparency, sustainability and social responsibility in the luxury sector.
