Jaipur: Tanzanite is becoming the new favourite of colour gemstone afficionados. Different in appearance than amethyst and sapphire, it is slowly making its way into the hearts of Indian consumers for its vast price range. With a 60-year legacy of colour gemstone manufacturing across markets in London, Singapore, and New York, D2C retail brand Jeypore Creations is exploring India’s markets for the past 4 years now. And Shweta Gupta, Director at Jeypore Creations is all praises about the gemstone.
“Tanzanite has a bluish-purplish tinge, which is very different from the blue colour of sapphires and is great for the burgeoning market in India. The royal stone got popular after the ‘heart of stone’ necklace from the world-famous film ‘Titanic’ starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet,” said Gupta. Tanzanite’s spectrum of colours work wonders with rubies and emeralds. The deeper the purplish tinge, the higher is the luster, and better is the quality of the tanzanite.
Jeypore Creations has been exhibiting at international shows for long. In India, they have exhibited across Indore, Hyderabad, and Amritsar, in which they understood the pulse of the end-consumers raring to explore more colours in high-ticket jewellery than ever before. Earlier, the brand was focused on rings and long chandelier earrings made of tanzanites, but with rising demand, Jeypore Creations is upgrading to resplendent neckpieces.
“Tanzanites look ravishing in animal-shaped brooches made by us. For JJS 2023, slated to happen from December 22 to 25, we have created a handmade necklace using tanzanites and great carvings,” she maintained.
India as a market is maturing where buyers want to enjoy their jewellery even if they buy high-end sets for investment. “Jewellery looks much more beautiful if you add gemstones to them and the popularity of tanzanites will grow onwards and upwards from now,” Gupta concluded.
