After a gap of over 1.5 years, GJEPC set a new standard in industry revival with the in-person IIJS 2021. Naturally, every manufacturer put their best bets to show top-notch innovations. In that regard, three unique trends surfaced through buyers’ reviews.
Vastupal Ranka from Ranka Jewellers, Pune, saw innovations in lightweight jewellery in 18K and 22K for both gold as well as diamonds. According to him, there was also lots of innovation done in temple and bridal jewellery.
Vastupal said, “I think, it’s for the first time that I saw lightweight temple jewellery in IIJS. The temple jewellery sets started from 30 grams to 40 grams. There were also unique lightweight ranges in diamond pendant sets and colour stone jewellery.”
The next conspicuous trend was spotted by Sumeet Anand from Punjabi Saraf, Indore, in diamond watches for women. ”The watch was completely made out of diamonds. The weight starts from 3-4 carats to 15-20 carats,” said Anand.
Vikram Verlekar, director, Ulhas Jewellers, felt that the manufacturers were hesitant to experiment with designs during IIJS, as they were not sure of the response from the trade.“Although using colour stones in diamonds are a common thing, I saw a few designs wherein small diamonds were beautifully placed in between the colour stones. This gave a unique look to the overall product. So, the major attraction was the design,” said Verlekar.
