At Titan, we are focusing on minimalism, creating recyclable products, environment sustainability and social well-being: Revathi Kant
With dynamic shifts in consumer buying behaviour, sustainability in design has become a quintessential element in the process of developing products, says Kant.
Every year 5th June is marked as the World Sustainability Day so that we are reminded about how precious our environment is. There is a huge need for us to protect it as we would not be able to survive if we do not have clean air and water and land to live on. Globally, the transformative impact for businesses to embrace and drive sustainable development is on the rise. The future of sustainability rests in continuity, commitment and innovation supported by collaborative efforts.
Here’s a quote from Revathi Kant, Chief Design Officer, Titan Company Limited
“Today conscious consumption is not just a trend but a way of life and people are adapting to a lifestyle that is more sustainable and viable. Sustainability is all about having a good, purpose-driven life and leaving a better world for the generations to come. With dynamic shifts in consumer buying behaviour, sustainability in Design has become a quintessential element in the process of developing products in consideration with ecological impacts right from the initial phase to the end of product life cycle. Hence the sustainability factor for a product is decided at the Design phase. It’s not just about calling a product sustainable, but also moving the entire ecosystem so that all parameters become far better than what they were yesterday, and at the same time dramatically reducing negative impacts on the people and the planet. Sustainable Designs are not just limited to material intervention, but a detailed layered approach would determine Design success. At Titan, we are focusing on minimalism, creating recyclable products, environment sustainability and social well-being. We are on the journey of being a water positive and a neutral carbon footprint company. The future of Design looks very optimistic and very promising because if we want to achieve Prime Minister Modi’s vision on making India Aatmanirbhar and contribute towards sustainable manufacturing, then Design will continue to play a very crucial role in helping manufacturers achieve this primary objective.”
