Senco Gold & Diamonds enters transit jewellery retail with Everlite outlet inside Andheri metro station

The compact, 200-square-foot store is a thoughtfully designed space that reflects the brand’s strategic move to adapt to evolving consumer habits, and aims to reach people right where they are, during their daily commute

Mumbai: Leading jewellery retailer Senco Gold & Diamonds has launched an outlet for Everlite —its sub-brand specializing in lightweight, everyday jewellery tailored for urban consumers—inside Mumbai’s bustling Andheri metro station. The compact, 200-square-foot store is a thoughtfully designed space that reflects the brand’s strategic move to adapt to evolving consumer habits in India’s fast-paced cities. Actor and Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar added an element of glamour and excitement to the event by inaugurating the new showroom — the brand’s 177th retail outlet — at the Andheri metro station.

The shift in consumer behaviour—particularly the growing demand for convenience and impulse-driven purchases—has played a key role in this decision. “We are always looking for new ways to stay connected with changing customer lifestyles,” said Suvankar Sen, Executive Director of Senco Gold & Diamonds. “Opening a store inside a metro station helps us reach people right where they are—on their daily commute.”

Sen noted that the Andheri metro station—one of Mumbai’s busiest transit hubs—was chosen as the preferred location for its diverse and high-volume footfalls. With thousands of office-goers, students and families passing through daily, the location offers an ideal setting for Senco’s aim of providing a quick and accessible shopping experience. In addition to jewellery, the store features another Senco brand, Sennes, stocking its lifestyle products, including perfumes and designer handbags, enhancing the store’s appeal as a convenient gifting destination.

While compact, the store is equipped with advanced security systems and a minimalist, elegant design that reflects Senco’s brand ethos. “Since the space is small, we kept the design simple, neat and elegant. We also made the shopping experience quick and smooth so even people in a rush can come in, look around, and make a quick purchase. We’ve made sure it still feels like the warm service people expect from Senco,” Sen added.

The Everlite collection available at the metro store includes lightweight gold and diamond pieces, focusing on mobility, price sensitivity and fast transactions. Unlike larger stores that carry bridal and high-value jewellery, the metro outlet emphasises versatility and affordability. However, customers can place orders for other collections and receive them at any of Senco’s full-scale locations.

The brand believes this pilot could mark a paradigm shift in how urban India shops for jewellery. “The traditional view of jewellery shopping being a planned, time-intensive activity is slowly evolving. Urban consumers today are increasingly making spontaneous yet informed purchases for which we have introduced Everlite, especially for lighter, wearable and gifting-oriented pieces,” explained Sen.

Having received a positive response on launch day, the brand is optimistic about scaling the concept. The brand is actively scouting other high-density metro stations in major cities to replicate the format. “While Andheri is our pilot, we are actively evaluating other high-density metro stations in other metropolitan cities as well. If the model continues to prove its success, we will see it become a scalable urban retail format for Senco Gold & Diamonds,” added Sen.

With a legacy of over 85 years, Senco currently operates 177 stores across 16 States in India and plans to open 20 new outlets over the next year, with a focus on expanding its footprint in North India.
