Kolkata: Sawansukha Indian Institute of Jewellery (SIIJ) recently gave young jewellery designers a platform to showcase their creativity and craftsmanship by hosting an event called the Jewel Exposition.

Five dynamic teams of budding designers presented extraordinary jewellery collections, meticulously crafted after an immersive visit to the Indian Museum, Kolkata. Drawing inspiration from the museum’s rich heritage, the institute’s students dedicated over 336 hours to transform artistic impressions into jewellery. Each design was created under the close guidance and supervision of SIIJ’s experienced faculty, ensuring professional finesse while encouraging innovation.

The exposition was evaluated by an eminent panel of industry leaders, including: Sunil Poddar, Zonal Chairman, GJC; Prakash Chandra Pincha, Former Regional Chairman, GJEPC; Swarup Dutta, Multidisciplinary Designer, Educator & Heritage Revivalist; Rupchand Sawansukha, Jewellery Veteran & Director, Sawansukha Group and Siddharthaa Sawansukha, Designer & Director, Sawansukha Group.

Speaking on the occasion, Siddharthaa Sawansukha, Director of Sawansukha Group, said: “Our Jewel Exposition is more than a competition – it is an expression of passion, heritage, and innovation. Our students have shown that jewellery can be a bridge between history and modern design.”

Adding to this, Niki Sawansukha, Principal of SIIJ, remarked: “At SIIJ, we believe in nurturing not just skills but also vision. The Jewel Exposition reflects how our students are learning to see design beyond ornamentation — as a story-telling medium that connects culture, history and craftsmanship.

The Jewel Exposition not only highlighted the creativity of the next generation of designers but also reaffirmed Sawansukha Indian Institute of Jewellery’s commitment to nurturing talent and preserving heritage through design education.

Meanwhile, Sawansukha Jewellers also had an exclusive showcase of their high jewellery collection ‘The Calcutta Curation’ in collaboration with celebrity make-up artist Anu Kaushik and FICCI Siliguri recently.
