The creative project aims to tell the story of Tripura to a wider audience
Agartala: Radhakrishna Jewellery has just launched a new jewellery line, ‘Unakoti Treasures’, inspired by the historical monument of Unakoti in Tripura. The collection aims to promote the State’s cultural and spiritual heritage while offering customers jewellery that reflects this tradition.
The collection draws inspiration from Unakoti, according to legend the gathering place of one crore gods and goddesses, where due to the curse of Shiva, one less than one crore, i.e, 99,99,999 gods and goddesses were transformed into stone idols. This amazing story and the skilful carving of the idols have been adapted into Unakoti Treasures. The highlight of the collection is a unique necklace, numerically linked to Jupiter, the planet of prosperity, good fortune, and knowledge. It weighs 46.5 grams and is crafted in 22-carat gold, with 327 pearls.

Behind the design and concept of this unique initiative isthird generation jeweller Nandadulal Debnath, Director of Radhakrishna Jewellery, who says the project aims to bring the heritage of Tripura to a larger audience. “We belong to North East India and this collection is a way to promote the heritage and craftsmanship of our region,” he explains.
The launch of Unakoti Treasures took place recently at the residence of the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister of Tripura, in the presence of more than 200 of the brand’s customers. A minister inaugurating the collection showed Government support for the initiative linked to the State’s heritage and culture.
The jewellery pieces are available across all six of the brand’s showrooms in Agartala and surrounding areas. With a starting price of Rs 6.5 lakh, the collection has got good response from customers. “Customers were amazed when they saw how we connected the heritage of Tripura with jewellery. Many pieces of the collection have already been booked and orders are being processed,” Debnath adds.
Emphasizing the importance of showcasing local art and spiritual narratives, he states, “We want to carry forward the legacy of our craftsmanship that my grandfather began in 1964, and inspire customers with pieces that tell the story of Tripura.”
Unakoti Treasures reflects Radhakrishna Jewellery’s effort to hold up the State’s heritage as well as the brand’s craftsmanship. The initiative not only strengthens the brand’s relationship with customers but also helps position Tripura’s cultural heritage on a wider platform, combining tradition, story-telling and jewellery design.
