PRERNA KHURANA – DIRECTOR, KHURANA JEWELLERY HOUSE WINS THE WOMAN MD OF THE YEAR

As it grew from a small shop to a sizeable showroom to a full-fledged brand — and now with a market-leading multi-category boutique in the bouquet — Prerna Khurana has shared every step on the company’s journey.

When Ms Khurana joined the family business in 1999, Khurana Jewellery House retailed only gold jewellery. Immediately, she set about building the diamond jewellery category, today a significant contributor to the group’s overall business.

Able, she says, to see through the customer’s eyes, Ms Khurana magnified that advantage with a relentless focus on detail. She studied and approved or improved every design that went into production. As revenue expanded, she set up a marketing division. More than a decade ago, she was among the early movers in the industry who saw the potential of brand promotion on social media.

Very recently, she ideated a concept store. The brand launched the new format store by the name ‘The Couture’ in Amritsar, a plush 5500 sq. ft boutique right above the flagship outlet in the month of October 2020. The outlet combines the best of precious jewellery and statement apparel. The first store modelled on this new concept launched in 2019 at Taj Swarna, Amritsar. This first-of-its-kind multi-designer store houses fine jewellery and couture fashion apparel. The format is expanding the customer base and helping increase the footfall.

Her grounded and forward-looking approach has made it possible for Khurana Jewellery House, today, to cater to every need of millennial consumers in the jewellery space. Ms Khurana’s company, as always, is poised to take the next big step, this time into eCommerce. She hopes this award will inspire and encourage women entrepreneurs across the industry.
