PNGS unveils ‘Waricha Suvarnasaj’, turning Maharashtra’s journey of faith into a jewel

The jeweller’s monthly ‘Dagina Maharashtra-cha’ series creates sustained demand cycles and a differentiated retail lever beyond conventional seasonal and bridal jewellery sales

Pune: P N Gadgil & Sons (PNGS) is incorporating Maharashtra’s cultural capital of seasons, festivals and local traditions into a structured retail strategy with the launch of ‘Dagina Maharashtra-cha’, a monthly product series of one unique, handcrafted gold masterpiece inspired by an iconic symbol of the State. The first in the series is ‘Waricha Suvarnasaj’, a tribute to the Wari pilgrimage, during which lakhs of Warkaris walk towards the Shri Vitthal Rukmini Temple in Pandharpur, in a ritual culminating on Ashadhi Ekadashi, which falls on Saturday, July 25.

The initiative shifts jewellery buying from occasion-led to calendar-driven consumption. By releasing a new piece every month, PNGS creates continuous discovery moments, encouraging repeat store visits and building anticipation among collectors and loyal customers.

The debut piece translates key elements of the Wari into design, incorporating motifs inspired by Tulsi malas, Vitthal-Rukmini iconography and traditional ornaments. The approach positions jewellery not just as adornment, but as a story-telling medium rooted in regional identity during the high-emotion Ashadh month.

Each month, PNGS will unveil a new handcrafted creation inspired by the character of that Marathi month. Together, the 12 pieces will form a golden chronicle of Maharashtra’s culture. “A dagina is never just an ornament; it carries the heritage of a culture and the identity of its land. With ‘Dagina Maharashtra-cha’, we are attempting something no jewellery house has done before: preserving Maharashtra’s story, month by month, in gold. There could be no truer beginning than the Wari because the Wari is not a pilgrimage alone; it is who we are,” said Aditya Modak, COO and CFO of P N Gadgil & Sons.

For the brand, the series offers a dual advantage—strengthening emotional resonance with core regional consumers while also creating differentiated product story-telling in a competitive retail environment. The limited-edition nature of each release further adds urgency and exclusivity, key drivers of conversion.

With ‘Waricha Suvarnasaj’ now available across its Maharashtra stores, PNGS is effectively using culturally anchored design to create a recurring retail trigger—turning heritage into a scalable business lever that drives footfalls, engagement and long-term brand affinity.

Founded in 1832, P N Gadgil & Sons carries forward 192+ years of legacy, and serves customers through 126 points of sale across 65 cities and 21 States, blending time-honoured artistry with contemporary design under its house of brands, including Gargi by PNGS.
