The brand designed its outdoor marketing campaign to stand out on the streets of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, evoking nostalgia at the same time

Bhubaneswar: In an era dominated by digital advertising and conventional outdoor promotions, Keshav Jewellers has demonstrated how creative on-ground marketing can still capture public attention and generate meaningful brand engagement. The Odisha-based jewellery retailer seemingly took to heart marketing guru Seth Godin’s ‘Purple Cow’ strategy – i.e., to stand out in a saturated market, you must create a product or service that is truly remarkable, like a bright purple cow in a field of ordinary brown cows – and launched a unique promotional campaign featuring a vintage Ambassador car transformed into a moving billboard that toured the streets of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

The centrepiece of the campaign was the iconic Ambassador, customized with prominent Keshav Jewellers branding. The vehicle was mounted with an oversized gold coin and adorned with traditional floral decorations, creating a striking visual spectacle that instantly drew attention from commuters and pedestrians alike. Social media remained abuzz with influencers and others highlighting the campaign, creating strong brand recall.

Strategic use of nostalgia made the initiative particularly noteworthy. By pairing one of India’s most recognizable and loved automobiles with the enduring value and cultural significance of gold, Keshav Jewellers connected sentiment with contemporary brand promotion. The campaign reinforced the retailer’s image as a trusted jewellery brand while celebrating elements of local culture and tradition.

Rather than investing solely in static billboards or digital advertisements, the retailer created something unexpected and memorable enough to stand out in a crowded marketplace. The moving display generated considerable local buzz, with residents frequently stopping to photograph and film the vehicle, leading to organic visibility across social media platforms.

The initiative highlights the growing importance of experiential and street-level marketing within the jewellery sector. By transforming a promotional vehicle into an interactive public platform, Keshav Jewellers succeeded in sparking conversations and extending its reach beyond traditional advertising channels.

Keshav Jewellers currently operates two stores in Odisha, located in Bhubaneswar and Brahmapur.
