Surat: Kalamandir Welfare Foundation, the welfare and CSR initiative of Kalamandir Jewellers, recently inaugurated the Leelaben Mohanlal Shah Vidya Mandir in Umarpada, Gujarat. The ceremony was attended by Chief Guest Ganpatsinh Vasava, former Cabinet Minister and MLA, Mangrol, Dr Jay Vashi, noted educationist, author, speaker, and social contributor, along with members of the promoter Shah family, community leaders and local residents.

The school has been established under the aegis of the foundation, as part of its continued commitment to creating meaningful social impact through education, healthcare, dignity and community welfare.

Named after Leelaben Mohanlal Shah and Mohanlal Shah (Chairman, Kalamandir Jewellers Limited) the institution carries forward their values of simplicity, compassion, service and deep-rooted commitment to society. Their presence at the inauguration made the occasion especially meaningful, as the school stands as a living tribute to their belief that true success is measured not only by what one builds for oneself, but by what one creates for future generations.

Located in Umarpada, a rural and tribal region of South Gujarat, the school aims to serve children and families who need stronger access to quality learning opportunities. For many children in the region, the school represents not just education, but hope, confidence, dignity, and a pathway to a better future.

Currently offering education from kindergarten to Standard VIII, Leelaben Mohanlal Shah Vidya Mandir aims to provide accessible, value-based, and holistic education to children in and around Umarpada. The school’s key focus is to combine academic learning with values, discipline, sports, confidence-building, and overall personality development, so that children grow not only as good students, but also as responsible individuals.

At the inaugural ceremony, book kits and school uniforms were distributed to the students, marking the beginning of their new academic path.

Speaking on behalf of Kalamandir Welfare Foundation, representatives reaffirmed that the foundation’s work is guided by a simple belief: giving back to society is not an activity, but a responsibility. The philanthropic commitment of the Kalamandir family has consistently supported initiatives in education, healthcare, hunger relief, dignity, and social welfare, with a focus on creating long-term and meaningful impact. “Education is the most meaningful investment we can make in society. Through Leelaben Mohanlal Shah Vidya Mandir, we hope to nurture confident, compassionate, and capable children who will contribute positively to their families, communities, and society,” a representative said.

The inauguration of Leelaben Mohanlal Shah Vidya Mandir marks not merely the opening of a school building, but the beginning of a collective effort to bring the light of education to children who deserve better opportunities, stronger support, and a brighter future.
