Surat: Kalamandir Jewellers inaugurated a daycare facility at its corporate office in Surat to support employees with young children. The initiative was introduced on the occasion of International Women’s Day and is aimed at enabling working parents, particularly mothers, to manage professional responsibilities while ensuring care for their children.

The inauguration was attended by women from the families of the company’s directors, women department heads and employees along with their children. The gathering also included conversations where women employees shared experiences about balancing family responsibilities and careers. The event highlighted the company’s effort to create workplace systems that support employees beyond formal policies.

The daycare facility is located within the company’s headquarters where senior management and corporate teams operate. The centre is designed to provide supervised care for young children while their parents are at work. The company stated that the initiative forms part of its broader workplace policies that focus on employee participation and retention.

Prosenjit Mukherjee, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), Kalamandir Jewellers Limited, said, “Inclusivity for us goes beyond maintaining a percentage of women employees. We believe that the families of employees should also feel connected with the organization. The daycare facility is part of that approach.”

Mukherjee added that the initiative responds to the needs of working parents within the organization. “Many of our employees are working mothers with young children. By providing childcare support within the workplace, we are enabling them to focus on their work while knowing their children are being taken care of,” he said.

Employees responded positively to the daycare launch, with several working mothers attending the inauguration with their children. The initiative received encouraging feedback, with employees viewing it as support in managing work responsibilities while ensuring care for their children. In addition to the daycare facility at its headquarters, the brand has introduced facilities such as lactation rooms at most of their retail outlets.

Mukherjee further noted, “When employees feel supported in managing their personal responsibilities, it strengthens their association with the organization and contributes to sustained participation in the workplace.”

The initiative reflects the company’s effort to integrate employee welfare into its workplace structure while strengthening engagement with its workforce.

Kalamandir Jewellers currently operates six stores across India.
