New Delhi: Luxury jewellery house Jaipur Gems recently partnered with the Embassy of Italy in the capital for the first-ever unveiling in India of Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli’s famous ‘Madonna and Child’ to mark Italy’s 80th National Day, using the occasion to showcase its signature jewellery creations in an exclusive environment of artistic excellence.

Shrey Sacheti, COO, Jaipur Gems, said the collaboration stemmed from a natural alignment between Jaipur Gems’ philosophy and Italy’s longstanding reputation for creativity, design and master craftsmanship. For the brand, the event provided an opportunity to associate itself with a globally significant work of art while presenting its own high-jewellery creations in a setting that reflected its emphasis on artistry rather than conventional luxury marketing.

“We view ourselves as a brand which really values design and craftsmanship, and we think those qualities resonate with Italy as well. They’re known for their craftsmanship, they’re known for their design, they’re known for their aesthetic, and we feel the same way about ourselves,” Sacheti said.

The invitation-only event brought together Jaipur Gems’ existing and prospective clients, members of the Italian diplomatic community and other distinguished guests. The exclusive environment offered attendees an opportunity to experience Renaissance art alongside exceptional jewellery craftsmanship in an intimate setting, reflecting the brand’s preference for experience-led engagement.

At the event, Jaipur Gems showcased two of its exclusive Prima Donna jewellery creations. One of the pieces, designed by Sacheti himself, came from the brand’s Jardin collection and featured a 59-carat Columbian emerald. The second piece, a 65-carat rubellite creation, was designed by his father, Siddhartha Sacheti.

To encourage deeper engagement with the jewellery, Jaipur Gems integrated QR codes beside the displays. Guests could access dedicated digital pages featuring macro photography, product films and detailed insights into the craftsmanship behind each creation.

The discovery-led format allowed attendees to explore the stories behind the pieces at their own pace while preserving the event’s non-commercial atmosphere. Sacheti noted that the generational aspect of the jewellery showcase created an interesting parallel with Botticelli’s ‘Madonna and Child’. “In a lot of ways, ‘Mother and Child’ resonates with us – father and son,” he said.

For Jaipur Gems, the collaboration was ultimately intended as a tribute to Italy’s artistic traditions, as the evening extended beyond art and jewellery to offer guests an immersive taste of Italian culture. “We had an opportunity to show our love and appreciation for Italian culture,” Sacheti said.

Looking ahead, Jaipur Gems plans to continue creating exclusive experiences for its clientele, focusing on access and cultural engagement. Sacheti said the brand’s approach is centred on offering customers unique opportunities and memorable experiences that go beyond conventional luxury consumption.

By bringing together Renaissance art, Italian heritage and its high jewellery, Jaipur Gems highlighted its focus on craftsmanship of the highest order and cultural story-telling.

Jaipur Gems was founded in Mumbai by Padam Sacheti in 1974, and moved to its Hughes Road location in 1987. In 1995, his sons Siddhartha and Mithun Sacheti joined the business, and expanded it to Tamil Nadu. From the House of Jaipur Gems came CaratLane under Mithun Sacheti in 2008, which was later acquired by the Tata Group.

Jaipur Gems currently operates five retail stores, located at Mumbai, Chennai and Coimbatore in India, and Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
