With more than 250 exhibitors across 800+ stalls, the show recorded more than 8,000 visitors over three days
Chennai: The Gem & Jewellery India International Fair (GJIIF) 2026 Akshaya Tritiya edition concluded on a strong note at the Chennai Trade Centre, reaffirming its standing as a major B2B sourcing platform for South Indian jewellery. The show brought together manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers from across the country, with exhibitors and buyers describing the event as a productive marketplace for trade ahead of the important Akshaya Tritiya buying period.

Across the three days, the show recorded more than 8,000 visitors, reflecting strong participation from the trade community. Retailers ranging from boutique independent stores to large corporate jewellery chains visited the exhibition to source new collections ahead of Akshaya Tritiya.
Jayantilal Challani, Convener – GJIIF & President, Jewellers and Diamond Traders’ Association – Madras (MJDTA), said, “Our aim is to deliver a better show each year, and I believe we achieved it once again. The GJIIF Akshaya Tritiya Edition 2026 saw exceptional participation from manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, and we have received outstanding feedback from all segments. GJIIF stands out as the only show focusing on South Indian jewellery, and has once again proved itself as the winner amongst all.”

The March 2026 edition of GJIIF featured more than 250 exhibitors across 800+ stalls, covering approximately 2,75,000 square feet of exhibition space.
Chief Guest Pramod Agarwal, Chairman, National Gem & Jewellery Council of India (NGJCI), said, “I am very happy to be at GJIIF in Chennai, in the State of Tamil Nadu, which has made a significant contribution to India’s jewellery industry. There is a lot to learn from the TN trade and industry; understanding this market has helped me personally in my business.”

The visitor profile reflected participation from across South India, including a growing number of retailers from Tier II and Tier III cities. The presence of buyers from these markets indicated the widening reach of the event and its role in connecting manufacturers with emerging retail hubs.
B Sabarinath, President, Tamil Nadu Jewellers Federation (TNJF) said, “The feedback we have received indicates that GJIIF is invaluable because it offers a wide choice of new collections and different types of South Indian jewellery in styles that blend a contemporary and traditional look. It is a critical show, and many jewellers firm up their Akshaya Tritiya sourcing plans based entirely on what they see at this event.”

Alongside the exhibition, the event also hosted industry knowledge sessions addressing emerging themes in the jewellery trade. A seminar by Kaushlendra Sinha, CEO, IAGES explored the theme ‘Building Consumer Trust Through Transparency and Compliance’, highlighting the importance of transparency and regulatory compliance in strengthening consumer confidence. Another technical session by Shaudhan Desai, Founder, DSoft Infotech (P) Ltd., focused on ‘The Role of Artificial Intelligence in the Jewellery Business’, discussing the potential impact of AI-driven tools across manufacturing, retail operations and customer engagement.

GJIIF is organized by the Jewellers and Diamond Traders Association, Madras (MJDTA) in association with the Tamil Nadu Jewellers Federation (TNJF). As a dedicated B2B platform focused on South Indian jewellery, the show continues to serve as an important meeting point for manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers across the region.
The next edition of the event, the GJIIF 2026 Festive Edition, is scheduled to take place in Chennai from 25th to 27th September 2026.
