Actor Ananya Panday appeared as the showstopper, wearing a diamond composition featuring nearly 100 carats of natural diamonds
Mumbai: Nemichand Bamalwa & Sons partnered with designer Gaurav Gupta as jewellery partner for the presentation of Light Song at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai. The showcase brought together couture and high jewellery through a coordinated presentation on the runway.
Actor Ananya Panday appeared as the showstopper, wearing a diamond composition featuring nearly 100 carats of natural diamonds. The piece included four solitaires of approximately 20 carats each and extended into a head ornament and nath, forming a single design structure on the runway.
The event featured Afterglow, a curated selection of over 80 high jewellery pieces developed at the brand’s ateliers in Kolkata. The collection included diamond collars, necklaces, chokers, cuffs, earrings, naths and headpieces. Each piece was created in alignment with the garments, with attention to movement, proportion and the interaction of jewellery with the body.

The presentation explored themes of light and shadow, with jewellery integrated into the structure of the garments. Pieces extended beyond conventional placement, with diamonds set across the head and face, and necklaces designed to follow the lines of the body. Several designs were adapted from the brand’s existing repertoire, while others were created for the showcase.
The collection included natural diamonds, uncut Polki, emeralds from Colombia and Zambia, rubies from Burma, spinels, tourmalines, tanzanites, South Sea pearls and Basra pearls. Each gemstone was selected based on its characteristics and use within the design. The production process involved multiple stages, including sourcing, setting and assembly, carried out by specialised artisans.
Founded in 1987, Nemichand Bamalwa & Sons introduced 22/22K gold jewellery retailing in India. The brand has since built its presence through gemstone sourcing and jewellery production, with a focus on maintaining consistency in manufacturing and material selection.
Other pieces presented included a multi-layered diamond drape necklace ending in a pear-shaped solitaire, tourmaline-based compositions linked to the show’s theme, reinterpretations of Polki necklaces and a 40-carat uncut diamond peacock necklace. These designs formed part of the broader presentation of the brand’s high jewellery work.

Commenting on the occasion, Vinod and Sheetal Bamalwa, Partners, Nemichand Bamalwa & Sons, said, “Gaurav Gupta’s vision encouraged us to look beyond convention and explore how jewellery could become part of the couture itself. His instinct for form, movement and detail created an entirely new dialogue between the garments and the jewels. To see that shared vision come alive on the runway was both deeply inspiring and a true pleasure.”
The collaboration marks the brand’s continued participation in fashion-led platforms, presenting its jewellery collections within runway formats.
