Swarnagram Shikshalaya set up by the brand in Warengbari, Tripura saw students, parents and villagers come together in a celebration of education and culture
Agartala: Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers has been carrying forward its ‘Swarnagram’ initiative in Warengbari, a remote village in Tripura’s Gomati district. As part of this initiative, the company has set up and supported the ‘Swarnagram Shikshalaya’, a residential school that provides education, sports facilities and nutritious meals to local children, in collaboration with Glory Academy.
The school recently hosted its Annual Anandotsav, an event that brought together students, parents and villagers. The programme featured cultural performances, including a welcome song by the Reang tribal children and a Hojagiri dance presented by local youth. Each child was given new clothes and gifts, marking the conclusion of the day’s celebrations.
For Shyam Sundar Co.Jewellers, the initiative serves as more than a philanthropic activity. By engaging with the local community, the company is building trust and strengthening its image as a socially responsible organization. The association of the brand with children’s education and community welfare helps it maintain a long-term connection that goes beyond the jewellery business.
Such initiatives contribute to brand differentiation in an increasingly competitive market. While product quality and design remain key drivers of consumer choice, customers also respond positively to brands that demonstrate commitment to social causes. In this case, Shyam Sundar Co.Jewellers is not only contributing to education but also creating a narrative of inclusivity and support that resonates with its wider customer base.
The Annual Anandotsav provides visibility for the initiative and allows the brand to highlight the progress made under the Swarnagram project. This consistent engagement enables Shyam Sundar Co.Jewellers to expand its reach and reputation, reinforcing both its legacy and future growth.
Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers is a jewellery house that was founded more than 50 years ago in Dhaka, now in Bangladesh. After Partition, the company relocated to Agartala, Tripura, and is now headquartered in Kolkata. Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers currently has six retail stores, three in West Bengal and three in Tripura.
