N.S. Jewellers uses retro-themed fundraiser to drive engagement among women consumers

The event, organized by the Ladies Circle India, brought together 150 women to explore vintage jewellery styles and fashion at an intimate gathering. A relatable styling language was created for the brand’s jewellery with local faces as brand ambassadors

Siliguri: When N.S. Jewellers decided to associate with Vintage Vibes, a retro-themed event conceptualized by Ladies Circle India, a non-political and non-sectarian organization of young women, the brand saw an opportunity to do more than just showcase its jewellery. The one-day fundraiser was crafted as a themed social gathering for women over 30. Complete with vintage styling, real customers as models, and a meaningful cause at the core, the event raised funds to support school infrastructure for underprivileged children.

“This wasn’t just a brand showcase. We wanted to create a nostalgic mood, give attendees styling cues they could relate to, and tie it all to a larger purpose,” said Bharat Agarwal, Managing Director, N.S. Jewellers. Hosted at a restaurant in Siliguri, the ticketed event capped attendance at 150 and sold out two days in advance. “There was a lot of demand closer to the date, but we kept it intimate and capped numbers at 150 to ensure the event felt exclusive and engaging,” Agarwal added.

What stood out about Vintage Vibes was its conscious decision to cast real women as its brand ambassadors. “We selected local faces, dressed them in our diamond and polki jewellery, and styled them in retro Indian wear. Their photos were put up on hoardings and promoted digitally,” explained Agarwal. The idea was to create a relatable styling language that showed women how to pair traditional jewellery with old-world silhouettes, without making it feel staged or commercial. “It created buzz both offline and online, especially on Instagram, where we showcased the behind-the-scenes moments and the final looks,” Agarwal added.

The jewellery itself was a mix of existing and event-specific pieces, all designed to evoke a timeless aesthetic. “We wanted people to feel they could actually wear these pieces with their own Indian wear and understand how to carry jewellery with the kind of clothing many women already own,” said Agarwal.

The styling created a strong impression; many attendees asked about the collections, indicating potential post-event traction. “It was encouraging to see so many women take genuine interest in the jewellery. They resonated with the idea that these weren’t just pieces to admire, but pieces they could practically wear and style,” Agarwal noted.

The event wasn’t just about style. “At the heart of this was a cause; to help build schools for children from underprivileged backgrounds. We wanted the event to be fun, but with purpose,” Agarwal shared. With a full house and strong community interest, the format proved its merit. “This is just the beginning, and we’re definitely planning to bring it back next year,” confirmed Agarwal, adding that the overwhelming response from attendees has encouraged the brand to consider making Vintage Vibes an annual calendar event.

N.S. Jewellers has, in the past, run several cause-linked campaigns with distinct narratives. Their ‘No Means No’ campaign tackled gender-based violence through symbolic pink hoardings. Another, titled ‘WTF – Wise, Talented, Fearless’ highlighted everyday women with bold messaging. “We’ve always believed in doing more than just selling jewellery. Campaigns like these help us connect with our community and stay relevant beyond transactions,” said Agarwal.

A regional retailer from Siliguri with two existing stores, N.S. Jewellers plans to open two more outlets by September 2025, taking their total store count to four, as they nurture growth ambitions in the eastern Indian market.
