Thangamayil gives employees a break in effort to ensure consistent retail performance

The ‘TFM Refreshment’ programme is aimed at creating a more collaborative and engaged workforce across departments. It reflects the brand’s belief that strong internal bonds directly impact customer service and business outcomes

Chennai: Thangamayil Jewellery Limited has launched the ‘TFM Refreshment Program’ at its Chennai store with the objective of building stronger internal cohesion and improving overall team productivity. The initiative is aimed at creating a more collaborative and engaged workforce, which the company believes is essential for delivering consistent retail performance.

“The Refreshment Program is being thoughtfully conducted to strengthen the sense of belonging among our employees and to build a strong Thangamayil family culture,” said Ba. Ramesh, Joint Managing Director, Thangamayil Jewellery.

The programme includes structured activities designed to encourage bonding, communication and a break from routine work. Employees from various departments have taken part, allowing them to interact beyond their usual teams. Planning included multiple brainstorming sessions where teams contributed ideas and defined clear objectives around task timelines and collaboration.

“All departments actively contributed, ensuring cross-functional collaboration,” said Ramesh. “Work schedules, task duration, and efficiency targets were clearly defined and monitored.”

The company believes that such initiatives help enhance internal coordination, not just within individual branches but across the entire organization. As teams across locations become better connected, the brand expects smoother information flow, improved product availability, and stronger branch-to-branch support.

This focus on internal cohesion also plays a key role in shaping the customer experience. “When our teams work well together, the customer experience becomes more seamless, efficient and satisfying,” Ramesh noted.

The programme was also introduced to support new team members who have recently joined the Thangamayil family. Interactive activities held prior to the start of regular work helped break initial communication barriers, encouraging better engagement across roles.

By creating an environment where employees feel more connected and open, the programme is helping to improve collaboration and performance. The results, according to the company, are already visible in both team interaction and daily operations.

Thangamayil plans to continue with such initiatives as part of its long-term strategy to strengthen internal culture and sustain high service standards across all branches.

The brand’s flagship store is located at Nethaji Road in Madurai. Thangamayil turned a public limited company in 2007 and released its maiden equity shares in 2010, which listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Limited and National Stock Exchange (NSE) Limited. Today, the company has 50 Thangamayil showrooms and 10 Thangamayil Plus Exclusive Silver showrooms, taking the total number of retail outlets to 60.
