Trent has launched the brand Pome in Westside stores, aiming to cater to value-conscious customers with competitively priced jewellery, tapping into the rising demand for sustainable, affordable diamonds.

Mumbai – Trent Ltd. saw its shares rise 7.67% to Rs 8,021 following the launch of its new lab-grown diamond (LGD) brand, ‘Pome,’ in Westside stores.

Pome features a diverse collection of LGD jewellery, including earrings, rings, necklaces, and bracelets, all crafted to match the quality of natural diamonds. Unlike mined diamonds, lab-grown diamonds are chemically identical but produced in a laboratory setting.

A domestic broker highlighted Pome’s competitively priced jewellery, making it more accessible to a broader audience. The broker suggested that Trent might consider expanding Pome through Exclusive Brand Outlets (EBOs) in the future, predicting that Pome could disrupt the LGD market similarly to how Trent’s Zudio brand transformed the fashion retail sector.

The launch comes as demand for lab-grown diamonds rises, driven by their ethical and sustainable appeal. Trent’s entry into the LGD jewellery market is anticipated to enhance growth and innovation in this segment. The TATA group already has two jewellery brands under its belt. Tanishq jewellery has become one of the leading names within the industry catering to a broad customer base. Zoya, on the other hand, was created to handle more premium clientele offering more luxurious options. Entry into LGD will be unfamiliar territory for the brand as it comes with its own set of challenges. Recent price lashes have made profitability a serious concern for existing players.

The company also runs Trent Hypermarket under the Star banner and is expanding its portfolio with new concepts like Samoh, focusing on elevated occasion wear, and Misbu, offering a curated selection of beauty and fashion accessories.
