GRT Group Chairman GR Rajendran donates Rs 1 crore for expansion of TTD temple in Chennai
The GRT Group recently donated a sum of Rs 1 crore for the development of Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple at T Nagar locality in Chennai.
GRT chairman GR Rajendran handed over the donation in the form of a cheque to TTD’s Tamil Nadu and Puducherry local advisory committee president, AJ Sekhar recently.
Speaking to TOI, AJ Sekhar said the donation would be used for purchasing additional land for the proposed expansion works at the TTD’s T Nagar temple.
After the temple complex was seen getting congested due to the ever-increasing influx of devotees to the temple in the last few years, the Tamil Nadu local advisory committee resolved to take up expansion works at the existing temple site itself by procuring adjacent lands with the help of donations.
According to AJ Sekhar, funds to the tune of Rs 50 crore more were required to complete the process of land procurement, after which the expansion works will be taken up by the Tirupati trust with its own funds.
