Bharat Diamond Week 5th edition opens in BDB, sees encouraging participation from buyers
Bharat Diamond Week also hosted the 2nd Saurimo Diamond Hub Investment Forum, Angola on the first day and has planned important seminars and conferences
The 5th edition of the Bharat Diamond Week, organized by Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB), opened with international dignitaries from Angola, Botswana and buying delegation from over 6 economies along with Indian buyers visiting the exhibition. In spite of the current volatile situation, BDW’s ‘only diamond and diamond jewellery’ exhibition saw encouraging participation from buyers. This Bharat Diamond Week saw industry glitterati visit Mumbai, which in itself is testimony to and motivation for the entire gems and jewellery sector.
Delegates from Angola, Jose Galiano, Advisor to Minister, Ministry of Mineral Resources Petroleum and Gas, Eugenio Bravo Da Rosa, Chairman/CEO, SODIAM E.P., Mmetla Masire, Managing Director, Okavango Diamond Co, Botswana, K. P. Abdul Salam, Vice Chairman, Malabar Group, Yoram Dvash, President, World federation of Diamond Bourses were the guests of honor along with international buying delegations from over 6 economies worldwide visiting the BDW in Mumbai to experience and get a feel of high quality products showcased in the fair.
Anoop Mehta, President, Bharat Diamond Bourse in his opening address welcomed the international dignitaries and visitor delegation from India and abroad and said “Although the global diamond Industry is facing a volatile situation which I believe is temporary, I am confident that the industry will bounce back and come out a winner. It is events like the Bharat Diamond Week and other international exhibitions and conferences that will help bring back the industry to its glory.”
Eugenio Bravo da Rosa in his keynote address spoke on the long-standing relationship that Angola shares with India and thanked the Bharat Diamond Bourse for having invited the Angolan delegation to participate in the Bharat Diamond Week. K. P. Abdul Salam, Vice Chairman, Malabar Group, in his address spoke on the initiatives of Malabar Group to make “Diamond Jewellery” an investment-oriented purchase. Yoram Dvash, President WFDB in his address said “India is a great country and is the most important diamond destination that is influential in the global supply chain.”
Mehul Shah, Vice-President, BDB, thanked the delegates and said that Bharat Diamond Week exhibition is an important initiative and the response from national and international delegations this year is phenomenal. He added that BDW will only grow with time and will set precedents. He thanked the sponsors, BDB committee members, BDW team and staff of BDB for the efforts that have been put to make this BDW a grand success.
Bharat Diamond Week also hosted the ‘2nd Saurimo Diamond Hub Investment Forum, Angola’ on the first day and has planned important seminars and conferences such as ‘AGDRT – Technology Symposium’ organised by GII, ‘India Jewellery Designers’ Forum’ among other panel discussions that will be held on October 03 and 04, during the exhibition. The international visitors delegation were given a tour of gem and jewellery manufacturing units in SEEPZ Mumbai to get a first-hand feel of the jewellery manufacturing prowess of the industry.
Bharat Diamond Week will run till the October 04, 2023 and will showcase exclusive and high-quality diamonds and diamond jewellery to buyers from India and abroad.
