An interactive session was organized by the Surat regional office on July 13 after GJEPC received instructions from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The session was organized with Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry.
The session saw discussions around diamond industry and lab grown diamonds with Piyush Goyal and Darshanaben Joshi, Union Minister of States for Textile and Railway.
The session was attended by leaders and famous personalities from diamond industry, lab grown diamonds and diamond studded jewellery manufacturers.
The session was very interactive and insightful. The ministers carefully and patiently listened to the concerns and suggestions of the diamond industry. Many important topics like equalization levy, MOOWR scheme, Surat SEZ related issues, and custom related issues were discussed.
Piyush Goyal assured industry to take required measures at the earliest. He also advised industry to do introspection and adopt ethical practices in the business to make the diamond industry flourish. The session was attended by more than 100 industry leaders.
