A complete overhaul in jewellery production has helped the company bring out newness in existing collections. “On the jewellery production, we are using different technologies for casting and polishing technologies to make the products lighter in weight. In the last 2-3 years, we have worked to create more lightweight products and now I feel that we have reached an optimum level of jewellery production where there is no scope to reduce the size further,” said Vaghasiya.

Apart from lightweight diamond earrings which are less than 10 grams, Elvee Jewel also focuses on lightweight necklaces. Elvee Jewel has also done a lot of innovation in Findings and thus developed in-house Findings, which they previously used to import.

In the same vertical, Kiran Jewels (India) have launched a new lightweight jewellery collection called ‘Denim’ in the everyday category. The collection consists of small pendants, rings, earrings, etc. According to Mahesh Italiya, President, Kiran Jewels (India), the new trend of self-gifting gave rise to the need for everyday jewels in the diamond category.

Mahesh Italiya, President, Kiran Jewels (India) said, “The earrings in the ‘Denim’ collection starts from less than 15-20 cents to 2 grams. We have significantly reduced the weight of gold.”

A’Star Jewellery celebrates the unique personality traits of the modern woman with its new lightweight collections launched at IIJS 2021.  With abstract influences and geometric inspirations, the design palette of the Symphony of Shapes collection is a mix of shapes synchronised in a repetitive pattern to create an illusion of volume. The balance and fluidity of these lightweight forms beautifully capture the spirit of a woman who brings harmony to the chaos around her.

Speaking about the design technique used to create the lightweight collections, Nancy Almeida, GM-Marketing, A’Star Jewellery said, “The intricately designed Whisper of Lace collection is inspired by the sheerness of finest lace. The filigree like pattern with dainty diamond accents and soft scalloped edges gives a delicate feel to the jewellery and evokes the gentle sensitivity of a woman. Our lightweight collections are designed around openwork patterns and crafted in 9-18 k yellow, white and pink gold, weights ranging from 1 – 3 grams based on product category and design.”
