SURAT: A diamond ring that made it to the Guinness Book of World Records was designed and crafted in Surat. A city-based jewellery manufacturing company designed a gold ring studded with with 12,638 diamonds for the Meerut-based jewellery company, Renani Jewels (India).

According to the owner of the Surat jewellery firm Hemal Kapadia, it took about nine months for his craftsmen to design and manufacture floral shaped gold ring studded with 12,638 diamonds. “We have used 165 grams of gold to craft the diamond ring. All diamonds are certified by the International Gemological Institute (IGI),” said Kapadia. “It is the ability of the jewellery manufacturers in Surat to design unique jewellery articles. The diamonds used in the ring have been sourced from the local industry,” he added.

According to Kapadia, the owners of the ring have named it ‘The Marigold’—The Ring of prosperity and that they have no plans to sell it.

On Monday, Harshit Bansal of Renani Jewels, who was in the city, said that that the jewellery manufacturers in Surat have a great talent and they can do impossible things.
