The first phase of the initiative will cover certified goldsmiths across rural and semi-urban regions of the State
Noida: Leading jewellery retailer PC Jeweller Ltd has announced a plan to support 1,000 PM Vishwakarma-certified goldsmiths in Uttar Pradesh as they move towards entrepreneurship under the State’s CM Yuva Udyami Yojana. The company will assist participating artisans with branding, design inputs, marketing guidance and access to organized retail systems.
In a statement, the Delhi-based retailer said it has partnered with the CM Yuva Udyami Yojana to help goldsmiths transition from small-scale operations to formal jewellery enterprises. The first phase will cover 1,000 certified goldsmiths across rural and semi-urban regions of Uttar Pradesh. Over time, PC Jeweller plans to extend similar support to more than 5,000 artisans across India.
As part of the programme, the company will work with the scheme’s implementing partners to upgrade skills and provide tools needed for operating in an organized retail environment. This includes exposure to modern retail practices, digital skills, design development and structured market linkages. India currently has more than 85,000 certified and verified PM Vishwakarma goldsmith artisans.
Balram Garg, MD, PC Jeweller, said, “PM Vishwakarma and CM Yuva Udyami Yojana have created a historic opportunity to recognize and uplift traditional artisans. We are honoured to partner in this mission to help goldsmiths move from informal, scattered operations to organized, high-value entrepreneurship with better designs, better technology and better income stability.”
Under the collaboration, eligible goldsmiths will be linked with credit schemes and support programmes for working capital and small business expansion. Skill development modules will cover contemporary jewellery design, hallmarking norms, quality standards, customer service and the use of digital tools.
The company will also guide goldsmith families in transitioning to legally compliant, digitally enabled, and formally recognized jewellery businesses.
PC Jeweller started operations in April 2005 with one showroom at Karol Bagh, New Delhi. Today, it has showrooms across 67 cities and 17 States in India.
