Muscat International Jewellery Exhibition to opens on Tuesday

The ninth edition of Muscat International Jewellery Exhibition (MIJEX), showcasing the latest designs of international jewellery brands, opens at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC) on Tuesday.

The premier global trade fair, which will continue for five days till December 15, will feature a wide range of precious and authentic gemstones, spectacular pearls, attractive gold ornaments and fabulous diamonds.

Akavut Tangsilikusonwong, Managing Director, Vega Intertrade & Exhibition said, “A lot of international jewellers are participating in this exhibition. There will be good offers from jewellers. VAT [value added tax] has not been implemented here yet, so buyers at this exhibition will have an advantage.”

Besides jewellery machinery, materials, tools, equipment and accessories will be showcased at the trade fair from a wide range of manufacturers and distributors from within and outside the Middle East region.

Hasssan Ramadhan Sulaiman, deputy director general, Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre said, “Last year we also had international visitors, so it clearly reflects how popular this exhibition is. International companies are looking ahead to participate. Sheikha Aisha bint Khalfan bin Jameel al Sayabiyah, chairperson of the Public Authority for Craft Industries will inaugurate the exhibition.”

An important highlight of this year’s trade fair is an opportunity to win a fabulous diamond watch, which will be given to a lucky winner by Salem al Shueibi Jewellery through a raffle draw.

Renowned for its large participation by both jewellers and consumers, the trade fair is being jointly organised by Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre and Vega Intertrade & Exhibition. It has attracted companies from across the world, including Oman, Lebanon, India, Qatar, Italy, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. It will be open for companies and public from 2pm to 10pm on all days and on Friday from 4pm to 10pm.
