To be launched on April 13, the book recounts the journey of the brand’s founder, from his early years in Thrissur to becoming a known name in the jewellery business, and aims to link the brand with a documented legacy
Thrissur: Jos Alukkas, Founder and Chairman of the eponymous Jos Alukkas Group, will launch his autobiography titled ‘Gold’ on April 13 at the Lulu Hyatt Convention Centre in Thrissur. The book recounts the journey of Jos Alukkas, from his early years in Thrissur to becoming a known name in the jewellery business. It details his introduction of high-purity gold standards, including the promotion of 916 hallmarking and BIS certification, which played a role in shaping consumer awareness and industry practice.
The publication of ‘Gold’ adds to the brand’s outreach efforts by bringing focus on the founder’s personal and professional milestones. This initiative is expected to reinforce the brand’s position among customers by linking it with a documented legacy.
The book will be introduced by novelist T. D. Ramakrishnan, who has also written the preface. Published by DC Books, ‘Gold’ provides a timeline of the brand’s growth while showcasing the founder’s long-standing connection with his hometown and the cultural ethos of Thrissur.
The guest list for the book launch event includes political higher-ups including Ministers, Members of Parliament and the top brass of the City Police, besides several other public figures and industry leaders.
Founded in 1964, Jos Alukkas has evolved from a family business into a key player in India’s gold, diamond and platinum jewellery market, with more than 60 showrooms across South India. Jos Alukkas was one of the first jewellers to launch a full-fledged online store, offering its products to a growing global customer base.
