Surat: The Hari Krishna Group has commenced the 12th edition of its Amrit Ganga Tirth Yatra, bringing together 1,380 people including employees’ families, invitees and support staff for a journey to Haridwar and Rishikesh. The initiative reflects the organization’s long-standing approach of treating families of staffers as part of its extended network.
The yatra is a programme centred on parents and elders, acknowledging their role in shaping families across generations. This year’s group includes 344 couples, 490 employees’ parents, 310 parents-in-law, 54 organizing committee members, 63 invited guests, 150 artistes, 77 kitchen staff and 96 support staff.
The journey began with the ‘Vadil Vandana’ ceremony held at the group’s offices in Surat and Mumbai, where elders were welcomed with shawls. Employees also performed ‘Pad Prakshalan’, a practice where they washed the feet of their parents and elders as a gesture of respect.
Planning for the yatra includes arrangements for transport, accommodation, healthcare, meals and on-ground assistance. The structure is designed to allow participants to focus on the spiritual aspects of the journey without logistical concerns.
During the programme, participants will take part in Rudra Abhishek, Ganga Snan and the Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri. The schedule also includes yoga and meditation sessions, spiritual discourses, cultural activities and tree plantation initiatives. Visits to locations such as Rishikesh, Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula, Janki Jhula, Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi are part of the itinerary.
