By formalizing a pledge system, GJEPC aims to ensure every participant’s contribution is recorded. A blood donation drive will also be held across India

Mumbai: The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) is urging citizens to take a Blood Donation Pledge on Jeweller’s Day on September 17, 2025, and participate in subsequent blood donation drives, held in recognition of the craftsmen who form the backbone of India’s gem and jewellery industry.

Following the pledge, a nationwide blood donation drive will take place across key centres including Mumbai, Surat, Jaipur, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, and more, in association with leading hospitals and blood banks. GJEPC expects to mobilize thousands of donors from the trade and the wider public, positioning this among the most significant CSR-led initiatives in the industry.

Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC, said, “September 17 also marks Vishwakarma Jayanti and the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On this day, I urge citizens and the jewellery community across India to take the pledge and contribute to this important cause.”

The initiative encourages people to pledge blood donation, addressing the rampant blood shortage across India’s healthcare system. Through this effort, the Council aims to bring together thousands from the industry and the public, making Jeweller’s Day a platform that not only honours artisanship but also demonstrates the industry’s role in addressing critical social needs.

By formalizing the pledge online, the Council ensures each participant’s commitment is recorded, making Jeweller’s Day a platform for collective action towards strengthening the nation’s healthcare system.

To participate, individuals must register through the pledge link [https://jewellersday.com]. Once registered, the pledge can be taken between 7 am on September 17 and 7 am on September 18, 2025 by entering a mobile number on the same link.
