Deeply rooted in heritage and culture, the event began with a ritual involving students from Ujjain, who specialize in Hindu Ved Shastras
Indore: DC Jewellers recently opened its grand 5,000 sq. ft new store at Y N Road, Indore with a ceremony steeped in spirituality and tradition, amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras -a marked departure from the usual glamorous celebrity-driven openings seen in the jewellery industry. The new store is the brand’s second retail outlet and the first outside its home-ground Ratlam. It is a two-storey space that promises to offer a distinctive shopping experience.
“We wanted this launch event to be different,” said Vikas Kataria, Director of DC Jewellers. “Instead of the typical celebrity appearances, we focused on something deeply rooted in tradition and culture. The essence of our brand is built on heritage, and we wanted to celebrate that from the very beginning.”
The event began with a unique ritual that involved students from Ujjain, who specialize in Hindu Ved Shastras. The students were invited to chant mantras, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere for the launch. A group of 21 young pandits chanted for 30 minutes, followed by the chanting of the Navkar Mantra. This was accompanied by a performance of Mahakal beats, known for their connection to the ancient temple in Ujjain, and the rhythm lasted for another 20 minutes. This spiritual beginning set the tone for the new store launch.
The decision to incorporate these traditional elements was a deliberate one. While jewellery store openings are often associated with high-profile figures and entertainment, DC Jewellers chose a more meaningful and spiritual approach to mark the occasion. The aim was to create an opening that reflected the brand’s values, which merge modern luxury with timeless traditions.
“This store is a representation of our roots and our commitment to staying true to the culture of this region while offering contemporary jewellery solutions,” Kataria explained.
Notably, DC Jewellers had embarked on a strong marketing plan with a multitude of strategic activities to familiarize the people of Indore with the brand even before it formally entered the city. These included initiatives like ‘Indore ke Gehne’ to honour the city’s cleaners for their significant contribution towards making Indore the cleanest city of India for seven years in a row, and the ‘DC Jewellers Traffic Awareness Programme’, an innovative community engagement campaign to promote road safety in Indore.
With its new Indore location, DC Jewellers continues to expand its presence in India, offering a wide range of high-quality jewellery that blends design, craftsmanship and tradition. The unique launch event re-affirms the brand’s identity as not just a jeweller, but as a champion of cultural legacy and craftsmanship.
DC Jewellers was founded in 1920 in Ratlam, where it operates its flagship store. The new Indore location will continue the legacy of its founder, Dhulchand Ji Kataria, and aim to bring his values of transparency and high-quality craftsmanship closer to Indore’s jewellery enthusiasts.
