The series builds an archive of relatable stories that audiences can return to and share. It also creates space for everyday couples to be featured, making proposal conversations more accessible
Mumbai: CaratLane has launched ‘How I Met My Person’, a digital series that centres on real couples sharing the moments that led them to choose each other and the messages they would offer to those considering commitment. The initiative builds on the brand’s focus on story-telling and places proposals, relationships and shared decisions at the centre of its consumer communication.
Over the past year, CaratLane has positioned itself as a destination for customers planning proposals and engagements. Through proposal-themed films and regional campaigns, the brand has focused on conversations around commitment and decision-making. ‘How I Met My Person’ extends this focus by shifting the lens from scripted narratives to lived experiences, allowing couples to speak in their own voices about how they met, what commitment means to them, and how they thought of taking the next step.
Explaining the intent behind the series, Shaifali Gautam, CMO, CaratLane, said, “How I Met My Person began as a natural extension of our larger engagement-ring narrative at CaratLane. Over the past year, we’ve been steadily shaping the brand as the go-to destination for anyone thinking about proposing or getting engaged. Our proposal-themed films including the latest one featuring our Tamil Nadu regional ambassador, Kayadu Lohar, have helped us spark meaningful conversations around commitment.”
The first two episodes feature couples from different backgrounds, reinforcing CaratLane’s effort to reflect diverse relationship journeys. Rather than focusing on products, the series places attention on conversations, decisions and shared values. This approach helps strengthen recall at moments when consumers are considering proposals, positioning CaratLane as part of that decision-making process rather than a transactional stop.
Gautam added, “With ‘How I Met My Person’, we wanted to bring that emotion even closer to the stories of real couples – people from diverse walks of life whose journeys reflect the beauty of modern love. In each episode, we ask couples how they met, what commitment means to them, and the advice they’d give someone getting ready to take the leap.”
From a brand perspective, the series supports long-term engagement by building an archive of relatable stories that audiences can return to and share. It also creates space for everyday couples to be featured, aligning with CaratLane’s aim to make proposals and engagement conversations more accessible.
As the series expands, CaratLane plans to continue using real stories to reinforce its presence in the proposal space, linking jewellery purchases with moments of decision, intent and shared milestones rather than occasion-driven buying alone.
Founded in 2008 as one of India’s earliest online jewellery start-ups, CaratLane expanded its reach significantly after Titan’s investment in 2016. The brand now operates as a fully integrated omni-channel retailer supported by the Tata Group’s legacy of trust. Along with its extensive digital platform, CaratLane runs more than 350 stores across India and one international store in New Jersey.
