The jeweller has supported the arts for more than five decades, with artistes frequently approaching them for sponsorships and partnerships
Bengaluru: In continuance of its support for the fine arts, CKC Jewellers recently presented a grand dance production titled EKAM in collaboration with a cultural organization, the Joann’s Performing Arts Company. C. Vinod Hayagriv, Managing Director & Director of C. Krishniah Chetty Group of Jewellers, emphasized the company’s dedication to patronizing the arts, highlighting how the brand has supported theatre, art and dance for over five decades.
“Artistes need support. They bring a wonderful flavour to the city we live in,” said Hayagriv, underlining the importance of nurturing artistic expression and ensuring that traditional and contemporary performances continue to thrive.
EKAM’s Kathak performances aimed to highlight the artistry of Kathak through a blend of movement and melody. While the jewellery brand has earlier designed exclusive jewellery pieces inspired by the themes of performances it has supported, this time, it did not create any jewellery lines due to the fast-paced nature of the sequences, which spanned multiple genres, including Mughal and Sufi influences on the intricate rhythms of Kathak. However, the brand’s jewellery did make a statement on stage, adorning seven of the lead dancers from the ensemble of 150 performers. In the brand’s view, the synergy between the traditional and the contemporary, the graceful movements of the dancers, and the sparkle of fine jewellery created a memorable spectacle.
The event, held at a prestigious venue with a seating capacity of 1,000, turned out to be a resounding success. A full house reflected a strong public interest in the arts and the deep connections between cultural patrons and their audiences. The jeweller’s involvement in the event was entirely non-commercial. “Our support is purely for the art and culture of the country,” Hayagriv stated, clarifying that this initiative was not a branding exercise or a market exploration strategy. “The company’s focus is majorly on fostering creative expression and giving back to the artistic community.”
This is not the first time CKC Jewellers has collaborated with a production of this scale. In its history of supporting the arts over the decades, artistes have frequently approached them for sponsorships and partnerships. The brand has also conceptualized themes for events, deepening its engagement with the cultural landscape. Through its sustained patronage, CKC Jewellers is ensuring that the legacy of performing arts remains vibrant and accessible to audiences.
The C. Krishniah Chetty Group of Jewellers currently operates five showrooms and boutiques across Bengaluru. These include The Heritage Showroom on Commercial Street, The Touchstone on Main Guard Cross Road, The Touchstone South in Jayanagar 5th block, The Touchstone West on Margosa Road in Malleshwaram and The Touchstone East at Phoenix Marketcity in Whitefield.
