A decade after launching its annual blood donation drive, the Sri Lankan jewellery retailer continues its long-standing commitment to community welfare.

Colombo, Sri Lanka: Wellawatta Nithyakalyani Jewellery has marked a decade of community service with the 10th consecutive edition of its annual blood donation campaign, reinforcing the role of social responsibility within its business values.

Held on August 16, 2026, at the jeweller’s premises in Wellawatta, Colombo, the initiative was organised in collaboration with Rotary Colombo East under the theme ‘Let’s Donate Blood – #BeAHero’. The campaign brought together donors, volunteers and supporters to contribute to Sri Lanka’s blood supply while encouraging greater awareness of voluntary blood donation.

The milestone is significant not simply for its longevity, but for the consistency with which the initiative has been maintained. What began as a community-focused programme has evolved into an annual commitment, positioning social impact alongside the jeweller’s commercial activities. According to the company, the continued programme reflects its approach to integrating community engagement and social responsibility into its broader corporate values.

Rotary Colombo East supported the campaign with its experience in humanitarian and community-service initiatives, helping extend awareness around voluntary blood donation. The collaboration also demonstrates how jewellers can leverage partnerships beyond the retail ecosystem to address wider community needs.

For Wellawatta Nithyakalyani Jewellery, the 10-year milestone represents more than a CSR achievement. It reflects an ongoing commitment to encouraging volunteerism and collective responsibility within the communities it serves. The jeweller has indicated that it intends to continue such community-focused initiatives, extending its role beyond jewellery retail to become a consistent participant in local social causes.
