Surat: SGL has launched its new Experience Centre in Surat, inaugurated by chief guest Vallabh Bhai Lakhani of Kiran Gems, along with guests of honour Suvankar Sen of Senco Gold & Diamonds and Jim Vimadalal of PJSC Alrosa India.
Founded in London in 2007, SGL has grown to 23 locations across five countries. As part of this expansion, the company introduced Experience Centres to bring certification closer to both trade and consumers, combining transparency, education, and engagement.
The Surat centre allows visitors to observe diamond certification in real time, supported by advanced instruments and experienced gemmologists. The facility provides a direct view of grading and verification processes, offering insight into the standards that guide certification within the industry.
This centre is the fifth in the series, joining those in Dubai, Mumbai, Jaipur, and Delhi. Another is planned for Hyderabad later this year, further extending the network into key jewellery hubs.
For Surat, a city known worldwide for its role in diamond cutting and polishing, the addition of an SGL Experience Centre aligns with its position in the global trade. The facility creates a platform where stakeholders can connect more closely with certification, gain clarity on processes, and strengthen their understanding of industry practices.
