By linking festive celebration and direct interaction with customers, the retailer converted seasonal goodwill into measurable business outcome across all seven of its stores in Jharkhand

Ranchi: Sri Alankar Jewellers & Sons leveraged its recently hosted Sawan Mahotsav to deepen customer relationships and drive sales, hosting celebrations across all seven of its stores across Jharkhand. Each store had its own day of activity, creating a sustained festive presence in the market.

The initiative blended in-store engagement with a strategic external tie-up. For its Dhanbad store, the retailer co-sponsored a day-long event attended by around 500 members along with the Dhanbad Club. The format included games, competitions, awards and mementos, with a dedicated stall featuring silver jewellery collections. The staff also promoted the brand’s gold savings scheme, resulting in on-the-spot sales and new scheme enrolments.

“The idea was to connect personally with our customers and make the brand a part of their celebrations,” said Yash Gupta, Marketing Head, Sri Alankar Jewellers & Sons. “Once the relationship is there, purchase decisions become easier for them.”

According to the jeweller, footfalls ranged from 200 to 600 per store, with an estimated 25 to 30% of attendees making purchases either during the event or in the days that followed. An additional 5% joined the monthly gold savings plan.

Gupta emphasized that the post-event impact was significant. Many customers who avoided purchasing in the crowd returned later, often bringing friends and family. This led to a second wave of store visits that converted into gold, diamond and silver sales. Word-of-mouth played a strong role, with attendees recommending the brand to their networks.

Promotion was handled both online and offline. The retailer sent personalized invitations to elite and regular clients rather than using large-scale advertising. Gupta noted that the in-store focus created a sense of exclusivity and personal attention that mass promotions often lack.

“Such events do more than boost short-term numbers. They strengthen trust and position us as a brand that values customer experience,” Gupta said. “It also makes business smoother because the relationship is already built.”

The success of this year’s Sawan Mahotsav has reinforced the retailer’s view that festive events should be a recurring part of its business calendar. The blend of celebration and commerce has proven to be a sustainable way to grow both sales and loyalty.

The brand operates seven stores in Jharkhand, with one in Bistupur district of Jamshedpur, two stores in Ranchi and one each in Bokaro, Ramgarh, Dhanbad and Hazaribagh.
