Word-of-mouth referrals formed a key customer acquisition strategy, reinforced by interaction with delegates from around the globe at the event
Hyderabad: Heritage jewellery house Kishandas & Co. recently made an impression at the World Telugu Federation’s 12th biennial conference, held in Hyderabad from January 3-5, 2025. The event provided a platform for the brand to showcase its jewellery collections, and demonstrate their versatility to complement contemporary fashion, while allowing it to connect with delegates from around the globe.
The brand strategically leveraged the event to reconnect with international clientele and solidify its position as a leading purveyor of heirloom jewellery. “The primary objective was to leverage the World Telugu Federation conference, which was set to bring delegates from around the globe. Recognizing the potential to reconnect with overseas clients we had lost touch with over time, we saw it as a fantastic opportunity to strengthen those relationships,” said Pratiksha Prashant, CEO of Kishandas & Co.
The collaboration came about when the World Telugu Federation approached Kishandas & Co. to participate in a high-profile fashion show ‘Amogham’, held as part of the conference. It featured renowned Hyderabad-based designers Gaurang Shah, Kavitha Gutta, Vaishali Agarwal and Shravan Kummar. The jeweller presented handcrafted gold necklaces, elaborate earrings and ornate bangles, adorned with precious gemstones like diamonds, emeralds and rubies, from its existing collections, at the show.
At the heart of the showcase was Kishandas & Co.’s fusion of temple jewellery and Kundan craftsmanship, adorned with ruby embellishments, designed to complement Shravan Kummar’s couture saris, crafted using revived ancient weaving techniques.
To complement Vaishali Agarwal’s vibrant sarees with Ajrakh prints and intricate motifs, the brand presented jewellery crafted with sparkling diamonds and delicate beads, adding a touch of elegance.
For Kavitha Gutta’s segment, the runway featured a harmonious fusion of kundans and emeralds, beautifully set in necklaces.
Gaurang Shah’s handwoven Khadi Jamdani, Banaras and Kota sarees were complemented by jewellery studded with rose-cut diamonds and sparkling stones from Kishandas & Co., enhancing the intricate craftsmanship of the textiles.
The brand’s participation in the conference aided both short-term visibility and long-term business growth. Word-of-mouth referrals remained a key customer acquisition strategy, reinforced by in-person interactions at the event. “The event generated significant buzz, positioning Kishandas & Co. as a brand synonymous with tradition and luxury. Moreover, the exposure led to key connections and potential partnerships, solidifying our presence and reputation in the market,” noted Prashant.
While the immediate benefits included increased brand exposure and direct engagement with potential buyers, the deeper value lay in the relationships built, opening doors to future collaborations and client acquisitions.
Founded by the legendary Harlochandas, jeweller to the Nizam and a master of heritage design, the business has evolved through four generations. The founder’s grandson, Krishnadas, elevated the brand to new heights and now mentors his sons to continue the legacy. Pratiksha Prashant, daughter-in-law of Das and CEO of the company, has been instrumental in shaping the brand’s legacy.
The brand’s flagship store is located in Hyderabad’s prestigious Begumpet area.
