Indore:Gemological Science International (GSI) has launched a satellite laboratory in Indore to cater to the growing jewellery market in Madhya Pradesh. The facility, which spans 1,200 sq. ft., was inaugurated on January 24, 2025 and will offer same-day certification services for jewellery, diamonds and gemstones. This new lab aims to meet the increasing demand for fast and reliable certification, addressing the needs of local jewellers and consumers.
The lab uses advanced equipment, including the ‘Trusure’ series by Mindron and GSI, to provide services such as gemstone treatment identification and polki jewellery certification. Madhya Pradesh has seen a rise in local jewellery manufacturing and trading, driving the need for expert certification services in the region. GSI’s presence in Indore will help jewellers ensure quality and build consumer trust, providing a valuable resource for the State’s jewellery industry.
Ramit Kapur, Managing Director of GSI India, explained that the shift towards local manufacturing in Madhya Pradesh, driven by rising demand for customized jewellery, has created a need for accurate certification. The new lab will support the efficient operation of jewellery businesses in the region, enabling jewellers to meet market demands while offering consumers confidence in their purchases.
In addition to certification services, GSI will conduct workshops for jewellery retailers, focusing on diamonds and gemstones, to enhance their sales strategy. The company will also offer educational sessions for consumers, helping them make informed decisions when purchasing jewellery.
GSI, founded in 2005, has expanded globally, offering gemological services across four continents. The company is committed to providing accurate gemstone identification and grading services, while also advancing gemological research and education.
