Students to receive a grant of €20,000, helping them advance their projects and contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals

Mumbai: The Swarovski Foundation has announced the launch of its ‘Creatives for Our Future’ programme, inviting young talents from India and around the globe to submit applications. The initiative, developed in partnership with the United Nations Office for Partnerships, seeks innovative individuals aged 21 to 30, who are working in fields such as fashion, design, art, architecture, and engineering.

Applications are open until October 16, 2024. Successful applicants will receive a grant of €20,000, along with personalised mentorship and networking opportunities with industry leaders. This support aims to help them advance their sustainability-focused projects and contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The ‘Creatives for Our Future’ programme is dedicated to empowering creative minds who are developing solutions that promote sustainable practices or raise awareness of global issues. Since its launch, the initiative has backed 21 groundbreaking projects, providing young innovators with essential resources and guidance to amplify their impact and drive significant environmental and social progress.

Previous winners say the programme is crucial to their success, for instance Indian architect and urban practitioner Gunraagh Talwar Singh, who is committed to enhancing the equity and resilience of urban environments. Having documented the adverse effects of dumpsites on ecosystems and communities, he has innovated Dumpcrete, an upcycled construction solution to concrete.

Of his experience as part of the Creatives for Our Future 2023 cohort, Gunraagh said, “Through the Swarovski Foundation Creatives for Our Future programme, I’ve been able to reach out to global organisations and unlock relationships which will put Dumpcrete on the path to expanding its technology. By reaching more communities in the Global South, we hope to literally pave the way for cleaner, more resilient urban environments.”
