Mumbai – Kuldeep Soni, Director of S.G. Karel and Sons Jewellers (JIO-W 39i) and Pinesh Porwal, founder of Vaibhav Creations (JIO-U 38f) spoke with enthusiasm about their brand’s participation in IIJS this year.

S.G Karel and Sons Jewellers, who has been a key player in the industry since its formal registration in 2005, highlighted the distinctive aspects of their collection featured at this year’s event. With a legacy dating back to their grandfather’s establishment, the company has been operational for 20 years since its official registration.

“We’re showcasing a variety of unique items at IIJS 2024, including our signature handmade jewellery from Kolkata and an extensive range of Nakashi designs in yellow gold and antique styles,” Soni explained. “Our collection also includes long haar, choker sets, karas, and Marwari churi parlas.”

This year marks their debut at the IIJS Premiere, having previously participated in the IIJS Signature in January. “IIJS Premiere is a more refined version of Signature,” Soni noted. “We’ve seen a notable increase in international visitors from Dubai, Malaysia, and Singapore. The interest from the Middle East, particularly in yellow gold items, has been significant.”

When asked about their experience at IIJS Premiere, Soni mentioned the growing interest from retailers and international clients. “We’ve received inquiries from a diverse range of sectors and regions, with a strong interest in our yellow gold pieces and Meena chudis.”

Soni praised IIJS for its continuous improvements over the years, noting its role in strengthening connections between Indian and international markets. “IIJS has made great strides in facilitating interactions between Indian exporters and global buyers. It’s a valuable platform for wholesalers and retailers alike,” he said.

Overall, Soni expressed satisfaction with the event and commended the organisers for their efforts.

Vaibhav Creations, on the other hand, is showcasing their brand’s offerings for the first time at the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) this year.

Contrary to Soni, Porwal expressed some dissatisfaction with the facilities at IIJS, noting, “The services at Jio have been less satisfactory compared to our experience in Chennai. The facilities here have not met our expectations.”

This marks the first appearance of Porwal’s brand at IIJS, following previous participation in exhibitions in Chennai and Bangalore last year. Reflecting on his experience, Porwal noted, “The exposure we received from retailers here is excellent. The initial response was particularly strong on the first day due to logistical delays at other venues, which worked in our favour.”

Among their showcased items, chokers have garnered particular interest, with various designs available from 20 to 120 grams. “Chokers are receiving the most inquiries,” Porwal confirmed, although no specific collection names are used.

Overall, while acknowledging some service challenges, Vaibhav creation’s at IIJS has provided valuable exposure and highlighted the continued demand for traditional South Indian jewellery.
