Jadau and polki assortments grab attention of retailers at Jio’s Select Club

The latest collection of jadau, South Sea pearls, emeralds, polkis and several other items by Geeta Shyam Jewellers (Club 30A, Jio) is the main attraction this year, while Radhika Jewels (Club 7B, Jio) is getting good traction with their innovative polki range in lightweight dailywear segment

Mumbai: The fourth day of IIJS Premiere 2024 had solid footfall across both the locations of Nesco and Jio. The Retail Jeweller interacted with two reputed players in the polki and jadau segments, notably Radhika Jewels (Club 7B, Jio) and Geeta Shyam Jewellers (Club 30A, Jio) on their offerings this year.

Rahul Jain, director, Radhika Jewels, talked about the intensifying trend of lightweight across all categories and approaching, with design being the foremost of all requirements. “Temple jewellery is our specialisation. Recently the price slump in gold because of the duty cut has led to positive sentiments. The movement is good among retailers. However, the new generation prefers lightweight and daily wear to traditional jewellery. We were earlier into traditional jewellery, but are trying to infuse latest designs and modification,” he said.

Radhika Jewels has, thus, come up with a lightweight polki collection in the dailywear segment. Jain describes that this is new for any retail player, as diamond jewellery has had these categories experimented on successfully for years, but not in polki.

Geeta Shyam Jewellers has unveiled a new level of excellence in jadau and polki jewellery this time. Capitalising on the serious and discerning buyers frequenting Select Club, the turnout has been amazing for the manufacturer. Reena Agarwal, Director at Geeta Shyam Jewellers, said, “The art of jadau, with its intricate designs and the delicate setting of precious stones, is a heritage that few have mastered. Our ancestors were among the pioneers who brought this exquisite form of jewellery to life. The journey of Geeta Shyam jewellers in the world of jadau jewellery is three generation old and we are creating pieces that are embodiments of history, culture, and personal stories.”

In their latest collection, Geeta Shyam Jewellers has integrated tourmaline, tanzanites, Russian emeralds, polkis, South Sea pearls & rose-cut diamonds, pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation for today’s young brides. “Women prefer jewellery that are light in weight, so that she can comfortably wear it on their special days. Brides are really appreciating different colours of stones with jadau, as this is the newest combination in jadau polki jewellery. 

The strategic location of the venue, according to Agarwal, has attracted a diverse audience, including long-time patrons and new clients. Jain agrees to catering to most of the serious buyers this time. He praised infrastructural upgrades such as the face recognition software, which has simplified security and movement of visitors in and out of the venue. However, Jain pointed out a challenge that manufacturers with similar offerings are facing at both the locations. “Since there are two venues for IIJS Premiere, with lightweight jewellery manufacturers more in number at Nesco, retailers are facing a dilemma about their purchase decisions as they need to scan the whole market. One cannot cover the entirety of Nesco and Jio on the same day, and this has delayed movement a bit,” Jain observed.
