Through this initiative, the brand aims to extend its impact beyond jewellery, striving to make a tangible and meaningful difference in the lives of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Mumbai: Omni-channel jewellery brand CaratLane has introduced an Assisted Employment Scheme in partnership with Maithree, an advocate for the empowerment of children and persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (PwIDDs). This initiative aims to ensure sustainable employment opportunities and skill enhancement for PwIDDs, ensuring their integration and success in the workforce.
Through this initiative, CaratLane is leveraging its reach and resources to extend its impact beyond the realm of jewellery, striving to make a tangible and meaningful difference in the lives of Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (PwIDDs). By dedicating efforts towards empowering this marginalized group, CaratLane not only demonstrates corporate responsibility but also embodies a commitment to social inclusion and equality.
Speaking on the initiative, Avnish Anand, Co-Founder and CEO, CaratLane said, âAt CaratLane, we believe in the power of business to effect social change. By partnering with Maithree, we shall leverage our resources for the greater good, ensuring that economic growth includes everyone, especially those who are often overlooked. This isnât just about financial support; itâs about integrating these capable young adults into the fabric of our everyday lives and industry. Through this initiative, we aim to break down barriers and foster an environment where diversity and inclusion are at the forefront of business practice. Our commitment extends beyond this program, influencing our internal practices and hopefully inspiring other corporations to take similar steps towards inclusivity and social responsibility.”Â
The scheme incorporates productivity-based incentives, incentivizing individuals to improve skills and contribute effectively to the workforce. It ensures a safety net with guaranteed minimum earnings of at least Rs 2,500 per month for five years, providing financial stability during the transition into employment.
The first cohort of 100 young adults who have completed a rigorous two-year vocational training programme at Maithree and joined the Assisted Employment Scheme were felicitated at an event organised in Chennai on April 16, 2024. Bhaskar Bhat, Director, Tata Sons and Mithun Sacheti, Founder, CaratLane were present on the occasion.
