Chennai: Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers (VBJ) recently partnered with Ignition 2026, a thought-leadership platform launched by the Shiv Nadar Foundation, that features live conversations with speakers from business, policy, arts and public life. The Chennai edition of the series, that is hosted across cities, drew participation from the business community and professionals across sectors, making it relevant for the jeweller. As part of its association with the event, VBJ showcased Parro, its signature parrot-themed jewellery line, drawing from nature and reflecting its approach to jewellery design.

The event had a broad horizon of speakers, that made it attractive for the jeweller. It featured conversations with Dr Abdul Majid Hakeem Ilahi, representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader, who spoke on developments in West Asia; actor Ali Fazal, who discussed his work across Indian and international cinema; and former Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale, who shared views on global developments and his book, China’s Wars. The platform enabled discussion across subjects including geopolitics, culture and creative work.

During the event, VBJ’s display of the Parro line – based on the parrot as a motif and involving detailed work with design approaches suited to current usage –brought together cultural and intellectual exchange.

Speaking on the occasion, Amarendran Vummidi, Managing Partner, VBJ, said, “Ignition has established itself as a platform where influential voices come together to spark conversations that shape perspectives. At VBJ, we believe that meaningful ideas and enduring craftsmanship both have the power to inspire generations. Our continued association with Ignition reflects our commitment to supporting platforms that celebrate excellence, dialogue and creativity.”

Jithendra Vummidi, Managing Partner, VBJ, added, “The Parro collection embodies our pursuit of artistry that is rooted in heritage yet resonates with contemporary lifestyles. Presenting it at Ignition, a forum that celebrates ideas, innovation and culture, is a fitting way to showcase how timeless craftsmanship continues to evolve while staying true to its origins.”

VBJ operates as a fifth-generation family-run business. The brand is associated with the creation of the Sengol, a sceptre linked to India’s democratic history, that now resides in the new Parliament building.

Established in 1900, VBJ is a name synonymous with heritage and craftsmanship. With two flagship stores in Chennai (Anna Salai and Anna Nagar) and a global presence through its Dallas showroom opened in October 2023, VBJ blends legacy with modernity to serve a wide range of jewellery connoisseurs. The company is preparing to open a jewellery showroom in Coimbatore as part of its retail expansion.
