Mumbai: Leading jewellery retailer Tanishq is celebrating the Indian team’s victory in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup by gifting each team member rings crafted using gold collected through its nationwide old gold exchange programme. The brand stated that the team’s win represents more than a tournament result, noting its wider impact on women and young girls across the country.
Tanishq said the tribute is linked to its long-standing focus on women’s achievements and the role the brand has played in that space since inception. By creating rings for each player with gold coming from families across India, the initiative positions the rings as a connection between Indian households and the players who secured the title.
Commenting on the initiative, Ajoy Chawla, CEO Jewellery Division, Titan Company Limited, said, “The Indian women’s cricket team has given the country a moment that will be remembered for generations. Their grit, determination, and the way they carried the hopes of 1.4 billion people is truly extraordinary. These rings from Tanishq are our way of honouring their spirit, commitment, and achievement — crafted from the recycled gold that lakhs of customers have exchanged with us. Each ring carries a piece of the country, just as the team carries the pride of the nation.”
Tanishq’s gold exchange programme enables customers to exchange old gold purchased from any jeweller, providing a transparent method to refresh their jewellery. The company said the service has grown into a national movement, with customers exchanging more than 1.8 lakh kilos of gold to date. The programme offers 0% deduction on gold exchange across any karat, including jewellery as low as 9KT and from any retailer.
According to the brand, the initiative reflects the participation of 32 lakh Indians who have engaged with the programme and made the tribute to the cricket team possible.
Tanishq currently operates over 500 exclusive boutiques in more than 300 cities across the world.
