Several retailers chose to keep the celebrations private, while others participated in industry-level celebrations. Many jewellers took to social media to publicly acknowledge the service of their employees
Mumbai: Retail Employees Day, observed globally on December 12 each year, is a day dedicated to the people who work hard to keep store operations moving and make shopping a pleasant experience. In the jewellery industry too, the day is intended to recognize the consistency, resilience and service of retail employees – from frontline sales teams to store managers and support staff – who shape customer experience every day.
Jewellers across India marked the occasion through a mix of on-ground activities, internal rewards and public acknowledgements, to recognize the people behind their counters. Several retailers chose to keep the activity within their stores. Brands such as PNG Jewellers and Bluestone marked the day across their outlets through team celebrations, including cake-cutting and felicitation, creating a sense of delight across locations.
Some jewellers participated in industry-level celebrations. Bhima Jewels joined the Retail Employees Day organized by the Retailers Association of India (RAI) Hyderabad Chapter, taking part in the second edition of the R.E.D Walk at T-Works, Hitech City, Hyderabad. The event brought together more than 2,000 retail employees from more than 30 Telangana-based retailers, combining a one-kilometre unity walk with open-air Zumba sessions and dance performances.
At Kirtilals, the focus extended beyond store teams to include manufacturing and corporate functions. The brand marked Retail Employees Day through an internal awards programme covering multiple categories, including attendance and punctuality, in-store performance, design excellence and emerging talent. With management participation, the programme highlighted the interlinked roles that support the business across functions.
Reliance Jewels observed the day across both its showrooms and head office through co-ordinated internal activities. Alongside a message from the Business Head acknowledging employee contributions, in-store celebrations included a red-carpet welcome, cake cutting, games and team interactions. At the head office, employees participated in RED Quest, a treasure hunt designed around the jewellery business, encouraging collaboration and engagement.
Lab-grown diamond jewellery brand Aukera Jewellery brought together teams from its 21 stores for an informal get-together centred on staff recognition. The gathering focused on everyday effort, with games and shared moments forming part of an internal celebration.
Nikhaar Jewels opted for a soft and relaxed celebration where the retail staff were gifted certificates of appreciation from Urish Chhajed, Director, Nikhaar Jewels. A photo session with video bytes of all the employees accompanied their Retail Employees Day event at the brand’s store in Bengaluru.
For several other retailers, the day was marked through public acknowledgement of the contribution of employees rather than on-ground events. Across cities, brands including Zaveri Gold & Diamond, Khimji Jewellers, M. Dutta & Sons Jewellers, Sagarmal Jewellers, Senthil Murugan Jewellers, Thangamayil Jewellery and Varahi Jewellers – to name a few – used their social media platforms to recognize their store teams. These messages highlighted the importance of frontline staff in maintaining daily operations, customer relationships and long-term trust at the store level.
