Tanishq’s Raksha Bandhan film is a quiet tribute to the role siblings play in shaping one another

‘Brothers Written by Sisters’ is a stirring ode to siblinghood, celebrating a sister’s influence that adds beauty, empathy and meaning to every relationship, and a brother’s willingness to receive, reflect and reciprocate those values as they grow together

Mumbai: Leading jewellery retail brand Tanishq has unveiled its heart-warming Raksha Bandhan campaign, ‘Brothers Written by Sisters’, which is a tribute to the quiet, lifelong bond between siblings, and the profound role they play in shaping one another. This campaign builds on the emotional legacy of Tanishq’s recent Father’s Day film ‘Fathers Written by Daughters’, which captured how daughters influence and reshape their fathers’ beliefs. With this new chapter centred around Raksha Bandhan, Tanishq now turns its gaze to the sibling relationship, spotlighting how empathy, emotional growth and values are exchanged in the lifelong bond between a brother and a sister. The latest film also reinforces how a woman’s perspective adds beauty, empathy and meaning to every relationship.

Conceptualized by creative agency ‘Talented’, the film explores the layered dynamic between siblings — a relationship built on shared mischief, equal footing and evolving understanding. While a sister is often a boy’s first mirror to empathy, fairness and emotional honesty, the brother too plays a vital role: in receiving, reflecting and reciprocating those early lessons. His willingness to grow alongside her, to remain open and emotionally responsive, is what allows this relationship to truly flourish. At its heart, this campaign honours the mutual shaping that defines siblinghood — one where lessons flow both ways and both individuals grow through the presence of the other.

With this campaign, Tanishq reframes the semiotics of Rakhi. What begins as one of the most equal, playful bonds in childhood often becomes unequal over time, shaped by roles, expectations and societal norms. Through the sister’s lens, this campaign brings the bond back to its roots — grounded in companionship, mutual respect, and shared growth. It advocates that Raksha Bandhan, at its core, should celebrate a bond where both protect, both nurture, and both grow together;a bond that remains equal, always.

Commenting on the campaign, Pelki Tshering, Chief Marketing Officer, Tanishq, said:“At Tanishq, we’ve always believed that women, effortlessly, knowingly, unknowingly add a speck of beauty to every relationship. It’s her perspective that quietly shapes a more equitable and empathetic world. With ‘Brothers Written by Sisters’, we turn the lens to the sibling bond — one where a sister often becomes a boy’s first mirror to empathy, fairness and emotional growth. This film is a tribute to that formative influence — not loud, but lasting. Through this story, we continue to imagine the world through her eyes — a world gently, powerfully written by women.”

Every framein the campaign has been built to reflect different facets of a sibling bond, because when children grow up without the weight of societal conditioning, they create their own little world with no roles to play, no expectations to meet. It captures the insight that in their everyday mischief, in the teasing and banter, lie the first lessons of love and respect, that go on to shape the more equal, more compassionate modern relationships we believe in today.

Tanishq, from the TATA Group, has a retail chain that currently spreads across 480+ exclusive boutiques in more than 250 cities in India and abroad.
