The Indian jewellery major is using trunk shows to extend its reach into markets beyond its growing network of US showrooms.

Florida, USA: Tanishq is complementing its expanding US showroom network with trunk shows, creating temporary retail touchpoints in markets where the brand does not yet have a permanent presence.

The retailer recently held a three-day trunk show in Tampa, Florida, from August 28–30. The activation gives Tanishq an opportunity to bring its jewellery collections directly to customers in the market without relying solely on a permanent showroom.

The move comes as Tanishq continues to build its physical presence across the US. The brand currently operates 10 stores across 10 states, with two locations in Texas. Its network spans New Jersey, Illinois, Texas, Washington, Georgia, California, Virginia, Florida and Massachusetts, with stores in Iselin, Aurora, Frisco, Houston, Redmond, Cumming, Santa Clara, Tysons, Orlando and Westborough.

The Tampa activation adds a more flexible dimension to this expansion strategy. Rather than limiting its customer outreach to markets where it has invested in a full-scale store, Tanishq can use temporary retail formats to enter new catchments, engage with local customers and build brand visibility.

For an Indian jewellery retailer expanding internationally, the format also offers a way to test market potential before committing to a permanent retail footprint. Trunk shows can bring the brand into emerging customer markets while maintaining the service and product experience associated with a physical Tanishq presence.

The strategy reflects a broader shift in international jewellery retail, where permanent stores are increasingly being supplemented by events, pop-ups and other experiential formats to extend geographic reach. For Tanishq, the approach could help deepen its connection with the Indian diaspora while introducing the brand to prospective customers beyond its existing store markets.

As Tanishq continues to add to its US showroom network, its Tampa trunk shows that its expansion strategy is not simply about opening more stores, but about creating multiple avenues through which customers can experience the brand.
