The campaign uses humour, family dynamics and a poignant mother-son scenario to show jewellery as a way of expressing gratitude
Sharjah: Kavitha Gold & Diamonds has launched a campaign centred on the relationship between a mother and son, using a light-hearted family narrative to create an emotional jewellery-gifting story. The film initially suggests that the son is looking to purchase jewellery for his girlfriend, before revealing that the jewellery is actually intended for his mother.
The campaign opens with playful exchanges around the son’s supposed plans to get married, with his mother actively participating in the conversation and jewellery selection. The narrative maintains this premise until the son reveals that he does not have a girlfriend and that the jewellery he has been choosing is for his mother.
The emotional turning point comes through the mother’s backstory. The film establishes that she had sacrificed her own gold over the years to support her family, including her children’s education and household needs. The son’s decision to gift her jewellery consequently becomes a recognition of the personal sacrifices she made for the family.
For Kavitha Gold & Diamonds, the campaign takes jewellery beyond conventional gifting occasions, using the mother-son relationship to highlight appreciation and gratitude. The film also integrates the retailer’s various offers and schemes, adding a retail-focused element to its emotional story-telling.
The use of humour at the beginning also gives the campaign a distinct story-telling structure. The initial misunderstanding creates curiosity, while the eventual reveal shifts the film from a playful family interaction to an emotional moment. This contrast allows the brand to communicate its message without relying solely on a conventional sentimental setting.
The campaign comes at a time of retail expansion for Kavitha Gold & Diamonds. The retailer operates multiple showrooms across South India and the UAE and recently expanded its physical footprint with the opening of a new showroom in Sharjah and another in Thalassery, Kerala, bringing the total number of retail outlets to 14.
