The 310-gram ornament, crafted over 33 man-hours, demonstrates the brand’s commitment to preserving spiritual and artistic traditions

Chennai: NAC Jewellers has completed a sacred commission: crafting the Namam (Lord Vishnu’s legendary tilak mark) for Sri Ranganatha Swamy’s idol at the historic Sri Parthasarathy Temple in Thiruvallikeni, one of the oldest neighbourhoods of Chennai. The project showcases both the brand’s spiritual connection and its artisans’ exceptional craftsmanship.

“The opportunity to craft the Namam for the Sri Parthasarathy Temple was an honour for us. It allowed us to contribute to the temple’s spiritual legacy whilst demonstrating our artisans’ skill and devotion,” says Ravi Kumar, General Manager of NAC Jewellers

The creation process began with meticulous planning to capture the temple’s sacred symbolism. NAC Jewellers’ artisans invested 33 man-hours in crafting the 310-gram Namam, ensuring every detail honoured both spiritual and artistic traditions.

Kumar adds, “The task aligns with our brand’s values of authenticity, heritage, and excellence. It reinforces NAC Jewellers’ deep cultural roots and our dedication to quality craftsmanship. We are proud to be part of such a significant spiritual event.”

The temple community and devotees have warmly received the sacred adornment. While this piece was crafted exclusively for the temple, NAC Jewellers is exploring the possibility of creating miniature replicas of the Namam and inspired designs to allow devotees to bring the essence of this spirituality into their homes.

The brand plans to continue creating sacred adornments and unique jewellery pieces that honour tradition whilst serving the spiritual needs of the community.

Established in 1973, NAC Jewellers has grown into a prominent jewellery brand in Chennai. Founded by Nathella Narayana Chetty in 1917, the business expanded under his son, Nathella Anantham Chetty, who opened a store in Parry’s Corner, Chennai. Today, NAC operates 11 stores in Chennai and an exclusive showroom in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
